„Not the wind, but the sail determines the direction”
Through her many years of professional experience as a fashion designer, product manager, creative director, central buyer and head of brand, Prof. Wiemer has gained extensive practical experience in the design, implementation and marketing of apparel products on global markets. As a graduate clothing designer and apparel engineer and a graduate industrial engineer, Prof. Wiemer demonstrably has the rare combination of creative and business skills both in theory and in practice. Her expertise in the field of complex processes in the textile value chain is thus based on design and technical know-how as well as on her special focus on cost and profitability aspects.
As part of her work as a lecturer and professor, Prof. Wiemer has been working since 2012 in the areas of "Creative Process and Project Management", Fashion Entrepreneurship, Marketing and Brand Management in the Fashion Industry, Product Management (Product & Collection Planning, Sourcing, Procurement and Purchasing), Retail Management as well as Cost & Performance Accounting and Controlling, and also Clothing Technology (Material Science and Processing Technology) and, last but not least, Fashion History and Fashion Sociology lectures and seminars. She supervises extensive project work and of course bachelor theses.
Prof. Wiemer is researching the creative process as part of the research project "Creaconability", its practice-oriented application in value creation and value formation, with the aim of strengthening the resilience and innovative power of companies and regions.
In her current project, Prof. Wiemer is developing a didactic method with the help of an artistic research approach that is intended to teach students the application of the creative process as a problem-solving process as a valuable key competence.
