FAQ

Information & Consulting

Can I also talk to lecturers or students?

Of course! Just visit our next Online Open Campus or get advice from the student advisory service about your desired study program. You can also browse our Youtube channel, Instagram or Facebook and get impressions of the projects and alumni.

Our students are happy to share their experiences with you and you are welcome to register for the next online event "Meet our students" and meet our students virtually.

Can I take a trial course?

Yes, as part of our workshops you can get a taste of our study programs and see if your dream study program is really something for you.

Application

Is it possible to apply with a specialized baccalaureate or without a baccalaureate?

Of course. Every specialized baccalaureate branch is valid. According to Berlin's Higher Education Act § 11, you can also study with us via vocational qualification. For this, you need two years of relevant and completed training. This means that if your learned profession is similar to your intended course of study, you will receive a subject-related university entrance qualification from us.

Do I need to have prior knowledge?

You should have fun with the topic of the study program. We will teach you everything else!

From when is it possible to apply? When does the application deadline end?

Our application process runs until August 15. You can submit your application documents to us as follows:

  • Via our online application system. There you can easily upload your documents at any time.
  • Or send us your application documents in the traditional way by e-mail.
  • Or by mail

How do I apply to you?

Bachelor's degree (design courses in the fields of film, games, media)

Since your creative aptitude for the bachelor's programs is paramount, we need from you:

  • A portfolio with personal work samples
  • University entrance qualification (baccalaureate or specialized baccalaureate)*
  • Formal documents (contact our student advisory service)

Management Programs in the fields of Fashion & Media

Here you convince us with:

  • A Letter of Motivation in English (one DIN A4 page is sufficient)
  • University entrance qualification (Abitur or Fachabitur)*
  • Formal documents (contact our student advisory service)

Master Programs

For the Master's programs we require:

  • The Bachelor's certificate, which ideally shows 210 ECTS*.
  • Letter of Motivation in English (two DIN A 4 pages)

*If you have not received your certificates yet, you can submit them later. For Master's programs: If you have less than 210 ECTS, you can make up the missing ECTS at mdh, e.g. in the form of Micro-Degrees.

Tip: Contact our student advisory service before you apply.

Is there a numerus clausus?

There is not. Convince us with your individual application! The student advisory service can give you all the information you need.

Can I submit my certificates later?

You do not need to submit your diploma with your application, as long as you submit it by the time you enroll. You can also apply with your last interim report card.

What should a portfolio look like?

There are no limits to your creativity. You can draw, paint, photograph or even submit digital work. At the end, put the whole thing into a nice shape with a little structure and send us the portfolio digitally as a PDF file (max. 12 MB). At the end of the portfolio should be your Declaration of Originality. We would like to invite you to a personal portfolio coaching, give you tips and help you to your successful application. Just contact us. And last but not least, don't forget to have fun and let your creativity run free!

Are there language requirements?

Yes, you need to have English language proficiency. The following are accepted proofs of English proficiency: TOEFL IPT: 543, TOEFL IBT: 74, IELTS (Academic): 6, Cambridge FCE: B2, PTE Academic: 59, IB Diploma: English A or B at HL or SL, BI 'English Language Proficiency Exam': PASS. How large are the groups in the individual study programs?

When are lecture-free periods (semester breaks)?

4 weeks each in March and September. And of course over Christmas and New Year's Eve.

In what form do the classes take place?

Our proximity also characterizes our teaching. We offer small seminar groups (classes) and thus an individual and personal contact with the instructors. We teach one module per day, so you get deep insights, have time to understand the theoretical content and your flow is not interrupted in practical work. The whole schedule is fixed for one semester in advance, so that you can plan your studies and private life harmoniously. Currently, the lessons are in presence and partly digital.

What technology awaits me on campus?

Since it is very important to us that you have all the necessary tools at your disposal, our campus is equipped with modern facilities.
