Your apprenticeship
During your apprenticeship, you will learn all about the diversity of media design, especially the fascinating technology behind it. During your 18-month basic training programme at mdh, you can explore your strengths and try things out. This time is for learning, absorbing and deepening your knowledge.
This is followed by an 18-month internship phase in companies, businesses or agencies. There you can apply the knowledge you have acquired and gain work experience. During the internship, it is possible to specialise in your desired area.
At the end of your apprenticeship, we will prepare you thoroughly for the state final examination at the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK). Our trainees have a 96% success rate in the IHK exam.
During your training, you will acquire theoretical knowledge and practical expertise.
Within a module, theoretical lessons are combined with practical exercises and real project tasks. In this way, practical knowledge paves the way into the world of work. With us you will learn, among other things:

Application & Admission
Admission Requirements
- General school leaving qualification (Abitur or similar)
- Or another accepted school leaving certificate (Lower secondary school certificate combined with a previously completed 3 year vocational training qualification, “Realschulabschluss”, intermediate school leaving certificate or O-levels)
Personal Requirements
- An interest in TV, film, technology and sound
- Being a team-player, interest in working with others
- Being ready to help out when things get tight
Additionally required:
For participation in the vocational training program, German language skills at a minimum level of B2 (CEFR) are mandatory, as the instruction and all examinations are conducted in German.

Your personality and your talents are more important than top grades!
Please apply via e-Mail (or regular mail). This is what we need from you:
- A motivation letter (tell us what inspires you – ca. 1 page)
- Representative work samples (Sketches, pictures, collages or early work, etc…)
- Relevant grade reports as well as a resume with your current photo
- You may apply during the school year (even before secondary school graduation)
- Graduation diploma can be submitted after completion of your secondary school

Application fees
We charge a one-time application fee of 290,00 EUR for this programme and a one-time material fee of 350,00 EUR.
