Micro Degree in Cyber Security – flexible upskilling
The Micro Degree is a focused continuing education format that fits seamlessly into your professional life. Within just a few months, you will build a strong foundation in modern IT security.
You will learn how to identify threats early, close security gaps, and implement sustainable protection strategies, directly applicable in your day-to-day work.

- Part-time format: Classes take place on Friday afternoon and Saturdays, making it easy to combine with work

- Official university certificate: Graduate with a recognized certificate from mdh as proof of your expertise
Upon successful completion, you will earn 20 ECTS credits. These can be recognized toward the M.Sc. Information Technology at mdh, subject to applicable regulations. Modules already completed do not need to be repeated.
Curriculum – understanding Cyber Security
You won’t just learn isolated tools, you will develop a comprehensive understanding of modern IT security. The program focuses on four key areas:
Web Security
Learn how to develop secure web applications based on current OWASP standards, conduct penetration testing, secure server configurations, and respond effectively to security incidents. Topics such as digital forensics and compliance are also covered.
Cloud Security
Whether AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, you will learn the fundamentals of secure cloud architectures. Topics include Identity and Access Management (IAM), encryption, network security, threat detection, governance models, and disaster recovery.
Mobile Security
Gain in-depth knowledge of securing mobile applications on iOS and Android. You will work with Mobile Device Management (MDM), perform penetration testing, and conduct vulnerability analyses. Secure communication protocols and data protection requirements are integral parts of this module.
Data Security & Privacy
This module focuses on cryptography, key management, and the secure handling of sensitive data. You will learn how to design access controls, assess risks, and respond to data breaches. Privacy-by-design and compliance with regulations such as GDPR are core elements.
