con:flux 2026: Here Are the Winners

16.06.2026

With con:flux, we launched a new platform this year that showcases student projects in the fields of Digital Moving Image, Emerging Media and digital storytelling. The focus is on new ideas, creative experimentation and exploring how stories are told today – whether through short films, social media formats or digital productions.

The first con:flux award ceremony and screening took place, and we couldn't have asked for a better start. So many people showed up that even the stairs turned into seats. We were especially happy to see students travelling all the way from our second mdh location Düsseldorf to be part of it.

In total, nine films were screened across three categories. It quickly became clear just how diverse digital storytelling can be today: from creative social media formats and atmospheric short films to carefully crafted animations.

The award for Best Vertical / Social Film went to “Washing Away” by Rohit Rajput.

In the Best Animation / CG / VFX category, “Mettigel” by Kevin Müller, Pascal Thiel, Nikita Koval and Alicia Zimmermann took home the prize.

“Collision Course” by Matthäus Sidek, Sebasthian Blohm-Pape, Anika Weissbrodt and Zoe Raab received two awards, winning both Best Short Film and the Audience Award.

A huge thank you to everyone who submitted a project, helped shape the event and made con:flux what it was. This first edition showed just how much creative energy there is within our community and how valuable these spaces are for exchanging ideas and inspiring each other.

We're already looking forward to the next edition.

See you at con:flux 2027.
