mdh Team Wins Gamescom Dev Award 2026 | PRAVDA

A great success for mdh: at the Gamescom Dev Award 2026, PRAVDA (concept25) by Floating Stone Studio – a team from Mediadesign Hochschule – was named Most Innovative Game. The award is supported by Epic Games.

On the first day of the Gamescom Dev developer conference, on 24 August 2026, the six winners of the official Gamescom Dev Award 2026 were announced. The award honours outstanding productions, teams and individuals for their contribution to the games industry – recognising creativity, innovation and dedication.

We're all the more delighted that a team from mdh is among the winners.

PRAVDA (concept25) is a game about journalism in a surreal totalitarian state, built around the motto "Truth is a weapon." You play as Saga, a so-called "Liar" – the regime's name for underground journalists. By night you move through the streets under curfew; by day you develop photographs and piece together fragments of overheard conversation into truths – or lies – that can shift the world around you. It's exactly this bold, original approach that has now been recognised as especially innovative.

The award stands for exactly what the Game Design degree at mdh sets out to teach: the courage to develop new game ideas, to see concepts through, and to bring them to a finished prototype in interdisciplinary teams. For an mdh team to be recognised for its innovative strength on one of the industry's most important stages is a fantastic signal.

The Gamescom Dev 2026 ended on Tuesday evening (25 Aug) and transitioned seamlessly into the main Gamescom 2026 trade fair.
